Easy Exercise While Shopping
Small Changes to Your Everyday Life Will Impact Your Blood Pressure
If just thinking about going outside to walk makes you start to shiver (or sweat!)… Consider strapping on your most comfortable walking shoes and heading out to your local shopping mall.
There are approximately 109,500 shopping centers in the United States ranging in size from the small convenience centers to the large super-regional malls. Chances are, there’s at least one near you!
Shopping malls are typically open up to one hour before the stores themselves. This can be prime time for a brisk walk inside. In addition to climate control, most malls have smooth non-slippery tiles, nice wide walkways and excellent lighting.
If weather permits, park far away from the entrance to add an extra 5 minutes to your walk.
Quick Tip: Typically, weekday mornings and evenings are the least busy times for shopping malls so consider waking around those times to encounter the lightest shopper traffic.
