The Functional Fitness Class at AWI incorporates all of these benefits into the program and much more.
The Functional Fitness Program is designed to prepare and build the body for graceful aging and promote heart healthiness. Movement and flexibility tend to diminish slowly over time as we age and this program helps to counter that affect. By focusing on methods designed by our physical therapist, the Functional Fitness Program integrates motions that become more difficult with age such as lifting objects overhead, getting up from a sitting position, and many more every day movements that make life easier. The Functional Fitness Program is great at improving core stability, strength, ones independence, bone density, and lowering joint pain. In some cases some of the techniques learned can even be life saving.
With the exceptional training and care given to each member, this program gives the feel of a one-on-one personal training session but with the support of a small group exercise class. Friendly motivation from instructors and peers encourage each person to do their best no matter their limitations.
