Who Has High Blood Pressure?

1 in 3 Adults in the US have HBP… Another 30% have Pre-HBP… And 20% of them are unaware of it

78 million (33%) adults that are 20 years or older were estimated to have high blood pressure in 2013. Slightly fewer, 70 million (30%) of adults in the US, had blood pressure higher than the normal guidelines, but not quite high enough to qualify as HBP. At least 47 million (20%) additional adults probably had high blood pressure but did not know it. Combining all 3 groups, an estimated 195 million (83%) adults in the US in 2013 had blood pressure higher than what has been recommended.
